Pakistani Christian female weight lifter Twinkle Sohail has called upon the government for enhanced facilities and backing so that she can bag more medals for the country. As yet another international event approaches, she urges for facilities matching international standards. “Sports cannot thrive without the backing of government.”
At the same time, she whined about lack of resources and apposite support from the authorities. “If we are bestowed with coaching facilities that match international standards, we can do much better,” she asserted. She said that without the sponsorship of the government weight lifting cannot see a boom. I can earn more medals for Pakistan in future, as a result of better facilities and funding from the government, she continued.
Despite this, she remains hopeful for clinching medals for the country at the upcoming international event Asia Oceania Power Lifting Championship. She told that the event will be held in New Zealand, starting from 4 December till 11. Pakistani team comprises of nine athletes comprising five men and four women weight lifters including Twinkle S.
