Tehreek-e-Talibaan Pakistan a militant outfit has claimed responsibility for an attack on The Army Public School, located on Warsak Road. TTP says the school was targeted because “army targets our families.”
“We want them to feel our pain,” TTP said.
Prime Minister Nawaz says this is a national crisis. “I will monitor the operation personally from Peshawar.” Moreover, the security has been geared up to a high alert in Islamabad also after the attack on school in Peshawar. The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced three days of mourning.
According to the eyewitnesses about five to six terrorists entered the school building and opened fire. The students hid under their desks and later moved to a safer location from where they were rescued by security officials. As a result of this attack 126 causalities have been officially confirmed till now, however there are fears of more. From the time the attackers launched their attack seven blasts have been heard from inside the school premises and according to the security officials three terrorists are still in the school building who have been pushed back and confined to last four blocks.
