1. Wars and rumors of wars:
You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. Mathew 24:6-7
I don’t believe the war is simply the work of politicians and capitalists. Oh no, the common man is every bit as guilty; otherwise, people and nations would have re- belled long ago! There’s a destructive urge in people, the urge to rage, murder and kill. And until all of humanity, without exception, undergoes a metamorphosis, wars will continue to be waged, and everything that has been carefully built up, cultivated and grown will be cut down and destroyed, only to start all over again!
Anne Frank’s Diary (The diary of a young girl)
Wars have been waging on in the world since time immemorial. We read of violent wars that took place even before Jesus came to the world but as we move towards the time of the second coming of Christ these wars have become more violent and their scale of involvement has risen from a two or three nations to today’s wars involving majority of the world nations.
We see the effects of World Wars I and II even today and still the world is planning on going to wars. According to an estimate about 8000,000 people died in the World War I and 50,000,000 lost their lives in World War II. The most advanced nuclear weapons of today are preparations of a greater war the destruction caused by which would be irreversible. The Bible also predicts a great war between Iran and Israel in Ezekiel 38-39 chapters. Everyday around us there is a fear of war and destruction. In fact there are more rumors of war today than there were at any point in the history.
2.Deceivers who claim to follow Jesus
Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. Matthew 24:4-5
Jesus clearly warned against people who in the end times would call themselves Christ and rebuke the teachings of Jesus Christ himself. These are the present day cult practices. A cult is defined as a small religious group that is not part of a larger and more accepted religion and that has beliefs regarded by many people as extreme or dangerous. Recently I read about a cult practice in China that goes by the name ‘Eastern Awakening’ who believes a female Christ to be ‘the Almighty God’. Today Eastern Awakening has penetrated many provinces of China and continues to misguide people.
The Pakistani church is also facing similar problems. Many cult practices have taken root in the Pakistani society and continue to malign minds. Some of the most famous Christian cult churches in Pakistan are:
i) The Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormonism)
ii) Johovah’s witness
iii) Mooni mission
We need to be aware and always on guard against these wolves in sheep’s clothing.
3. People of Israel return to their land and the establishment of the Israeli state:
And say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will take the Israelites out of the nations where they have gone. I will gather them from all around and bring them back into their own land. I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel. There will be one king over all of them and they will never again be two nations or be divided into two kingdoms. Ezekiel 37:21-22
Also read Jeremiah 23: 3-6 and Isaiah 43
The end time events largely revolve around Israel and the city of Jerusalem. Zechariah 14 clearly tells of a Jews controlled Jerusalem where Christ would return. These and many other passages from the Old Testament predict the coming of Israelites back to Israel. Many of the prophesies would not have made any sense if the Israeli state had not been established. Since its establishment in 1948, 3 million Jews from all over the world have come to live in Israel and many are following the lead. This immigration of Jews from foreign lands back to Israel is commonly referred to as performing ‘Aliyah’.
