70 Years Old Mukhtar Masih’s Blasphemy Case Closed After His Death

70 years old Mukhtar Masih was accused of fake Blasphemy charges under sections 295-A and 298 PPC upon property matters. Gohar Abbas SHO of the police station Cantt Gujranwala was the Complainant of this case himself. On January 28 the Police attacked the house of Mukhtar Masih, caught him and slapped him harshly. Later, the police caught the elder son of Mukhtar Masih and tortured him in order to pressurize Mukhtar to accept the fake Blasphemy charges against him.

Earlier police took them in the sitting room of the Local counsellor Mehr Latif where they accused both the father and the son of Blasphemy and let the police take them to the police station. In the police station the police threatened Mukhtar Masih to accept the charge against him otherwise his family will be in big trouble. After two days the police released Anjum while they sent Mukhtar Masih to the Jail for the judicial investigation.

Mukhtar Masih and his family’s suffered a lot due to Blasphemy case. After Mukhtar’s arrest his family went in hiding and stood at The Voice Society safe house until his bail was granted. Later the family moved to Abbotabad. In August, Mukhtar Masih was operated on for a knee injury and taking a heavy dose of antibiotics. Later he was diagnosed stomach ulcer and a hole in his small intestine, his son told.

Moreover, he was suffering from mental trauma of the fake case. After suffering for few months, Mukhtar lost his battle for life on November 2nd 2017 in Bagh hospital Abbotabad and was also buried there. Mukhtar Masih left behind him two sons, two daughter in laws, one daughter and five grand -children in his family.

The Final Hearing of Mukhtar Masih was on 20th of November 2017, when the Honorable Additional Judge Saadat Rasool was given the death certificate of Mukhtar Masih. The judge closed his case of Blasphemy that was pending in His honorable trial court.

Several Christians have been killed in Pakistan following fake charges of blasphemy, and others jailed, including the Christian woman Asia Bibi, who has been on death row since 2010.
