A Christian journalist from Azad Kashmir gets a minorities’ award

A young Christian poet, and human rights activist Shakeel Anjum; commonly known as Shakeel Anjum Sawan has been awarded by a minorities’ award as a recognition of his services for the Christian community.

In an award distribution ceremony, organized by Prosperity Life Foundation, awards were distributed among several minority members. This award distribution ceremony was held on April 9, Saturday at Lahore’s Ambassador Hotel. Shakeel Anjum was given a National Minorities’ Award 2916, by Member National Assembly (MNA) Asiya Nasir.

Shakeel Anjum is a young and distinguished Christian journalist who has risen as the voice of Christians in Azad Kashmir. In addition to being an active journalist he is a poet, rights activist and a social welfare worker. Among the local Christians he is renowned for his poetry.

Shakeel has also produced articles for various magazines. He gained wide appreciation from the masses after his article about Christians in Azad Kashmir, was published in Humsookhan International. At present he is working as Editor in Chief of first ever monthly Christian magazine of Azad Kashmir named “Montly Nawa-E-Masihi.”

He is also affiliated with several other national and international minority news papers and channels including “Montly Humsookhan International”, “Monthly Satoon-E-Haq”, “Awaz-E-Aqliat” and “Jesus Link TV”. He also established a Community Welfare Center and represents Azad Jammu and Kashmir while working with Christian Communication Development Network as Coordinator.
