QUETTA: A Christian man writes to the Chief Justice of Pakistan against illegal sale of Church property.

Supreme Court of Pakistan

The Church Property Mafia is not only active in mainstream Churches of the country but finds its tie-ins in cities like Quetta. A layman Sohan Masih appeals to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take a “Suo Motto Notice” of this illegal Mafia along with requesting him to form an inquiry committee to look into this matter and to take effectual steps to curb this Mafia.

Sohan Masih’s open letter to the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry reads as follows:

“An open letter to the Honourable Chief Justice Supreme Court of Pakistan

Subject: Inquiry into the sale of Church property in Quetta and formation of an inquiry committee and prevention of illegal sale in future and effectual lawmaking in this regard.
Honourable sir!

I would like to congratulate you that you are hearing the case of illegal sale of Church property and by forming a bench for case hearing. We express heartiest felicitations on your remarks, “Minorities should be provided protection in this country.”

Honourable sir!

This illegal sale of Church properties in Quetta has been in operation since past few years, heading this Land Mafia is Bishop Saadiq Daniel. Bishop Saadiq Daniel has illegal sold the Julius garage located at the Jinnah Road but no one has taken action yet.
Honourable sir!
Similarly Q.D.A has illegally constructed the Chiltan Housing Scheme on the Church land. The sale of this land has been facilitated by the Church leadership itself. Sometime ago, Bishop Saadiq Daniel of Church of Pakistan has made an attempt to sale the land of Saint Teresa High School located on Toghi Road. By the intervention of Church congregation this sale was obstructed.
Honourable sir!
Bishop Saadiq Daniel is now eyeing at the Saint AndrewsChurch in Karachi, public is strongly protesting against Bishop Saadiq Daniel but he is free to his will. Bishop Saadiq Daniel has been backed up by influential political and tribal leaders against whom poor Christians are helpless. Many cases are pending against Bishop Saadiq Daniel.
In the end I humbly appeal you to take notice of this matter and provide protection to the Church property.
Mat God be with you
Sincerely your
Sohan Masih
