LAHORE: A Christian man illegally held in captivity after being abducted by religious fanatics in accomplice with police.
As CIP has learned, on 8th of June, 2013 Iftikhar Masih, a sanitary worker, resident of Lahore was kidnapped at about 1:00 PM from J- Block Model Town, Lahore. He was kidnapped while he was on his duty. He was abducted by two armed men accompanied by two unidentified policemen.
Later, the abductors were identified as Sajid Ali and Zahoor while the identity of the other two police men remains unknown. After kidnapping him, they apprehended him in a private prison cell. While in their custody, he was subjected to severe torture. After beating him relentlessly whole night they finally let him go the next day. As a result of this torture, he under go some serious damages to his body. What is more, the abductors forced him to imprint his thumb impression on a stamp paper before releasing him.
After this incident, Iftikhar Masih and his brother Ashfaq Masih reached LEAD office, gravely seeking help from the organization. The affectee along with his brother and father met Advocate Sardar Mushtaq Gill -National Director of LEAD. They told him the tragic episode that Iftikhar had gone through.
Iftikhar Masih told that a Muslim man named Muhammad Sajid on 15th of May, 2013 registered an FIR bearing no: 558/13 at Police Station Factory Area,Lahore. He went on to tell that this FIR was filed against unknown men under Sections 457/380 PPC while the complainant Sajid expressed doubts on Iftikhar Masih and his brother Ashfaq Masih. Without any substantial evidence, Iftikhar and his brother Ashfaq Masih were detained by the police. However, due to lack of evidence against them they were released from the police custody later on.
Iftikhar grumbles that, “for taking revenge from us, because the Police had declared us innocent, they kidnapped me and confined me at some unknown place and badly and severely tortured me whole night. Now I have blood in urine and my legs and arms have severe pain.” Whilst he expressed fear of possibility of such incidents in future as the alleged culprits are still threatening him of horrible consequences.
Acting upon his complain, a legal panel from LEAD approached DSP Model Town and submitted an application against the allegedly accused Sajid Ali, who tortured Iftikhar Masih after abducting him, causing severe physical harm to him. Meanwhile, LEAD is anticipating an unbiased legal action against the named culprits while Iftikhar awaits justice.
