“Pastor Holmes encountered the suspect, and saw he had gathered much of the church’s electronic equipment, including laptops and video equipment,” the Police chief told.

According to Police official Pastor Holmes yelled at the man to drop what he was carrying, but the man “turned in an aggressive manner” that frightened Pastor Holmes so he fired a single shot and hit the man in his shoulder.

The 27-year-old wounded burglary suspect, who has been identified Lee Marvin Blue, was flown to the Memorial Hermann Hospital. According to the police he will survive his injuries.

Burglary suspect Blue was caught by the surveillance camera outside of the church moving along the exterior wall of the church, trying different doors before banging his body against one and knocking it open finally.

Police said it was unclear that the suspect was carrying a gun; however, Pastor Homes will almost certainly not face charges because he was defending himself.
