Arrests After Attack on Christian Gathering in Kerala

Five people have been arrested in Kerala, following an attack against a Christian prayer group in Attingal.

Law enforcement sources have confirmed that they could be members of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, which is a radical Hindu paramilitary group. Complaint of the attack had named 20 people and the police are still looking for the remaining attackers.

“Kerala is known as ‘God’s Country’,” Sajan George, president of the Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC), told AsiaNews. “Unfortunately, Christians cannot freely worship him because of rising radicalism in the state.”

Natives of Attingal, Anoop, Vimal, Abhijit and Deepu were arrested when they attacked a spiritual meeting of a Pentecostal Community last Sunday.
