ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry comments that the Badami Bagh incident could have been prevented by the provincial government.
During the hearing of the suo moto notice of te incident, the Chief Justice remarked,” This incident could have been prevented had the government taken steps to protect lives and properties of people.” Moreover, he assumed that this incident of violence has brought a bad name of Pakistan in the global community. The incident has tainted the country’s image internationally.
During the proceedings today, the Chief Justice questioned the elements of the incident, in response to which the SSP investigation Babar Bakht told the court that two local groups were engaged in the incident. Moreover, the SSP reported that the leaders of both groups, Tariq Gujjar and Usman Butt have been nominated in the FIR.
