A 3-year-old, Christian girl sustains severe injuries after being sexually assaulted by friend of her elder brother. In keeping with a report by International Christian Voice (ICV) the victim Saiba Masih, was brutally raped by Muhammad Abbas; and is receiving medical attention at a local hospital.
International Christian Voice revealed that the victim received medical treatment from the District Headquarters Hospital. The victim Saiba is daughter of a Christian couple Shafqat Masih and Catherine Bibi. She has two other siblings Altaf and Daud. Catherine Bibi is a sanitary worker while her eldest son 22-year-old Altaf Masih, is a rickshaw driver.
Family of the victim told the International Christian Voice team that the incident took place on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at around 9 in the morning when Saiba and Daud were alone at home. At the time of the incident, Catherine and Altaf were at work while the alleged rapist Muhamamd Abbas who is friend of Altaf went to Altaf’s house. He gave Daud some money and sent him to nearby shop to buy some candies for themselves.
When Daud left, he brutally raped Saiba and left her in an unconscious state and fled. When Daud returned he saw his sister in a critical condition and approached the neighbors for help. Soon after the family and the local Christian community learnt about the incident they All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (APMA) leaders Mr. Nazeer Bhatti and Mr. Naveed Amir Jeeva; seeking help and assistance in this matter.
The APMA representatives transported the victim to the hospital where; she underwent a surgery and received seven stiches. The doctors told the family that the victim will no longer be able to bear children in future because of the severe damage done by the assault.
Subsequently, the APMA representatives reported the incident at the local police station and an FIR was registered against Muhammad Abbas. The culprit was later arrested by the police; however the family and APMA leadership are being pressurized in order to force them into dropping the charges against Abbas.
The International Christian Voice, Canada (ICV) heaped condemnation upon the perpetrator and demanded strict action against him. The ICV has announced to succor the victimized family and provide them with financial and legal aid. All the expenses incurred by Saiba’s medical treatment will be borne by the ICV.
ICV has also urged the Government of Pakistan to provide protection to the family of the victim who are being pressurized not to pursue the case. Local extremist and religious fanatics are reportedly threatening the family of Saiba and APMA workers to quit pressing charges against Abbas.
