Barrister comment hurts Christian community in Pakistan


Joint Christian Action Committee (JCAC) demands that a case should be registered under 295-C against Barrister Zaffar Ullah for the statement that has hurt the sentiments of the Christians. The campaign has been launched on social media along with a copy of the application submitted by the office bearers of JCAC in Abbpara Police Station, Islamabad. The application was submitted on July 11, 2017.

Referring to proceedings of the press conference by the PML (N) leaders on July 10, 2017in PID (Press and Information Department), Islamabad, the spokesperson of JCAC Basharat Khokhar said that Barrister Zaffar Ullah has hurt the religious feelings of Christian community therefore we demand an apology from him. In case he does not apologies then blasphemy charges should be applied on him. He made this statement while speaking to the Nation.

He said that Barrister Zafar Ullah compared Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif the Prime Minister of Pakistan with Jesus Christ. The press conference was organized regarding the world famous case regarding Panama papers against the PM and his children including Mariam Nawaz (daughter), Hussain Nawaz, Hassan Nawaz (sons) and Captain Safdar (son in law).

A joint investigation team (JIT) was formed by the Supreme Court of Pakistan to hold investigation and compile a comprehensive report. This report was submitted to Supreme Court on July 10, 2017. The JIT was comprised of the representatives of six different departments of the Government of Pakistan.

Barrister Zafar Ullah is advisor to the prime minister and also the state minister of law, justice and human rights. This press conference was also addressed by the federal defense minister Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal federal minister for planning, development and reforms, and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi federal minister for petroleum and natural resources.
