LAHORE:  Former Chief Minister of Punjab warmly welcomed at Youhanabad by Christians.

The Former Chief Minister of Punjab- Shabaz Sharif addressed a rally at the Christian neighborhood as part of his “Elections Campaign” on Friday 19th of April, 2013.

 

He was cordially welcomed by the Christian masses present at the rally. Speaking to the horde, Shahbaz Sharif said,” being Pakistani, Muslims and Christians were brothers and no injustice could be tolerated against the minorities of Pakistan.”

 

In his address he publicized the intention of PML-N saying if elected the PML-N will develop Youhanabad into a Model Village. He went on to say that the role of Christian citizens of Pakistan in country’s development and progress can not be ignored.

 

The Former Chief Minister also said that if elected, PML-N will prolong its past projects extending developmental efforts to the rural areas of the country. Prior to this, while in rule Shahbaz Sharif has been articulating definite concerns for the Christian community as he mobilized full machinery of his government after the incident of Badami Bagh. He reached the affected area and made the dispensation of compensation amount to the affected families. On his direct orders the repair work of the wrecked houses of the Christian residents of the Joseph Colony. 

 

In their Party Manifesto, PML-N has already put across earlier- a “Day for Minorities” to be observed- if they return to power. However, this is wort mentioning that Christian community in Lahore share equal vote bank as other religious communities secure.
