The US Commission on International Religious Freedom, a government advisory panel, talked about fear that the go up in laws banning blasphemy was leading to penalty of people who simply express unlike religious views or who have been falsely accused.

The report identified Pakistan used its controversial law at a stage “unmatched able” to anywhere else in the world, listing 14 people on death row and 19 others serving life sentences for alleged blasphemy against Islam.

Pakistan has never carried out the death sentence for blasphemy, but the report said that the law – and the lack of practical look after – has put in to a large number of mob attacks and vigilante violence against minorities.
