Global Peace and Preach Ministry of Pakistan calls for release of Christian youngsters detained in connection with the Youhanabad incident. Ministry’s Founding President Pastor Samuel Khokhar has asserted that police had hooked Christians illegally and without cause. He immediately called for their release and acquittal from the false charges brought against them.
During a protest held outside the Lahore Press Club, Pastor Samuel Khokhar said that these Christians were not linked with the unrest, yet dozens were detained by the police without substantial evidence against them. He said that police have had a free hand to hook Christians unlawfully; he condemned illegitimate arrests of Christians. He further pointed out to the fact that Christian youth were subjected to torture without due reason.
While talking with the media, Pastor Samuel Khokhar complained that Christians are the victims in this case and unfortunately they had been targeted instead of getting justice. He stressed that the authorities must immediately set the innocent Christian detainees free and hook the perpetrators of the twin bombings at two different churches in Youhanabad. At this occasion he said that if the authorities fail to administer justice, Christians will invoke the Scotland Yard in order to carry out fair investigations into the incident.
On March 15, 2015 two suicide bombers targeted two churches in Lahore’s Youhanabad. Following the blasts Christians took to the roads and protested against the bloodshed. The commotion augmented when two men were lynched allegedly by agitated Christian protesters.
