Chinese authorities have released three Christians after detaining them.
In China’s Henan province, three Christians were amazingly released by the authorities after they were held in ‘black jails’. Zhang Lingxin, daughter of imprisoned Pastor Zhang Shaojie, her aunt Zhang Cuijian and Fan Ruizhen, who leads the Nanle County church in Henan after Pastor Zhang’s absence, were released on Friday November 28 after being kept in detention for nine days.
According to the China Aid Director Bob Fu, a land dispute between local authorities and Nanle Church led to the detention of a dozen local Christians including Pastor Zhang at the end of 2013. Pastor Zhang is serving a 12-year prison term. While recounting the ordeal during the detention Zhang said, “They took me to the Nanle County Party Committee guest house where the rooms had been soundproofed. They locked me up there.” She was punched and kicked when detained, but later on the jail authorities began relenting, she added.
Even though, Chinese authorities repeatedly detain church leaders and ordinary Christians, it is unusual of the officials to release Christian detainees.
