Christian lawmaker calls for an increase in number of minorities’ seats in provincial assemblies

Christian lawmaker calls for an increase in the number of seats reserved for religious minorities in all the four provincial assemblies. MNA Asiya Nasir had moved a bill seeking an increase in the number of minorities’ seats. This bill was presented before the Standing Committee of Law and Justice on October 24, Monday.

In keeping with the details, MNA Asiya Nasir presented the bill on “Amendment of Article 106” seeking an apt increase seats of non-Muslims in all four provinces. JUIF’s Christian lawmaker later defended her bill before the committee.

In Balochistan Assembly the number of seats reserved for religious minorities is 3, while in Sindh Assembly there are 9 seats reserved for the Non-Muslims. In Punjab Assembly a total of 7 seats while in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly only 2 seats are allocated for the Non-Muslims.
