Christian Locality in Islamabad faces demolition

A Pakistani judge has ordered a municipal agency in Islamabad, the nation’s capital, to demolish at least ten poor neighborhoods in which 5,000 Christian families live.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddique of the Islamabad High Court in Friday directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to clear all slum settlements from the capital within a month.

 

Most of the inhabitants in these colonies in Islamabad suburbs are Christians, who migrated to the capital from different parts of the country in search of jobs. They have been settled here for three decades.
