As the victim’s mother, Catherine Bibi is getting ready for a hearing at a court in the Bhawalnagar area of Punjab territory one week from now, and says the trial has officially depleted her assets, as per a report by the London-based philanthropy British Pakistani Christian Association.
Bibi’s girl was raped in her home on 17th December, 2016.
“One day, when Bibi and her oldest son, Altaf Masih, 21, were at work and her 10-year-old son, Daud, was looking after his younger sister, a Muslim friend of Altaf, named Muhammed Abbas, came over. The man requested Daud to buy cigarettes for him from a nearby market. When Daud came back from a shop, Abbas kept him waiting outside the house and raped his sister.
Abbas finally opened the door for Daud, lit a cigarette and left. When Daud went inside, he found his sister naked, covered in blood and screaming.
Police initially refused to investigate the rape until a local lawmaker exerted pressure on the authorities”.
Christian rape victim named Saiba should hold up till Saiba achieves adolescence before she will be evaluated for the possibility to restore damaged reproductive organs. Her mother Catherine Bibi is calling for prayers for the full recovery of her daughter within that age.
On the 24th July 2017, Saiba and her mom Catherine were taken by Mehwish Bhatti lead Pakistan officer of the BPCA to National Hospital Lahore for a medical examination of their health. The charges for the hospital assessment were paid by donor from New Zealand.
BPCA took Catherine and Saiba to a gynecologist Dr Saadia Shaukhat and Child expert Professor Dr Haroon Hamid who affirmed that in spite of the fact that her general health is fine, Saiba’s reproductive organs were still damage as a consequence of major trauma and infections from stitches that were applied to initial wounds. A more thorough analysis can be undertaken until Saiba reaches puberty leaving mother Catherine feeling great anxiety as she waits to ascertain whether her daughter can ever conceive a child. Catherine has asked for prayers from Christians across the globe as she seeks a miracle recovery for her daughter.
In an emotional appeal she said:
“My daughter does not deserve any of the pain she has suffered and will suffer for many years yet. Saiba was left bleeding and broken by an evil man whose violence has left her with deep emotional and physical scars for longevity.
“Doctors may struggle to heal my daughter but through God anything is possible and I believe he will heal Saiba one day. Please join me in praying for my daughter who will one day through her healing be a testament to the power of the living God.”
Dr Shaukhat educated Catherine that Saiba ought to experience psychological assessment with a professional as she is showing a few sign of mental trauma.
