Christian Town row: Ingenuous Christian sentenced to 29 years of in prison over false charges

An Anti-Terrorism Court has sentenced a Christian to 29 years in prison over fallacious charges of terrorism. Pervaiz Masih was nominated in an untrue FIR invoking the anti-terrorism law. There are few other Christians also nominated in this case, however six of them including former Christian MPA Kamal Chughtai were acquitted from the case.

ATC judge Justice Raja Pervez Akhtar handed over the imprisonment sentence to Pervaiz Masih along with charging him of paying a fine of 230,000 Rupees. In case he fails to pay the fine he will face additional two years and two months of imprisonment. Six Christians namely ex-MPA Kamal Chughtai, Mubashar, Salman, Vijay Masih, Vicky Masih and Asif Riaz were acquitted on the basis of lack of evidence against them.

Pervaiz Masih and other Christians were enmeshed in a fabricate case of terrorism. In line with the invented FIR, Pervaiz Masih along with Mubashar and Salman had critically injured a police constable Kamran Murtaza as they opened fire on him. It was stated that the incident took place near Christian Town.

Pervaiz Masih is a poverty-stricken Christian who was arrested from outside a church in the Christian Town area in Faisalabad, he was nominated in the fabricated FIR. He was behind the bars even though Kamran Chughtai arrested along with him had been released. He was arrested along with few Christians from outside the Christian Life Ministries Church, in the Christian neighborhood.

Kamran Chughtai, Pervaiz Masih and few other Christians were arrested over charges of terrorism after a brawl between Christian youngsters and two policemen deployed at the gate of the Christian Life Ministries Church.
