Christianity has been on the rise in Indonesia for the last five years. Churches of Indonesia say that 30% of this Muslim country is now Christian.
In a report, Lucille Talusan, CBN Correspondent says that much of the growth of Christianity in Indonesia has come about because of Pentecostal churches. The pastors say that more and more people, including Buddhists and Muslims are attracted to attend the services.
Pastor. Billy Njotorahardjo’s congregation has increased from 400 to more than 6000 in only about 4 years.
“We always pray open heaven, God! We pray open heaven, God! Touch people, even outside (that they may) get healed and saved,” Ps. Njotorahardjo says.
Eddy Dellerosa, a former Buddhist, member of Ps. Njotorahardjo’s church had pancreatic cancer that had spread to his liver. The doctors had given him 6 months’ time. One of his Christian friends asked him to try Jesus.
“I said to Jesus, give me a chance. I will serve you,” Eddy says.
Today, after 6 years, Eddy is healthy and attends the church regularly.
“I believe I’m here because of my faith. Jesus is my healer, Jesus is my saviour, Jesus is my Lord, my master, (He is my) everything,” Eddy proclaims
Eddy’s wife, Sofie Dellerosa who was a former Muslim, says that once she visited the church and felt at peace. Later that night, she asked God to show her the right way. She then started visiting the church more regularly and at one point in her life, surrendered her life to Jesus.
More and more people are coming to Christ in Indonesia which is the largest Muslim country. Church leaders say that it is the prayers and the unity of Christians that has opened doors for salvation.
“We pray for the revival of Jakarta. We pray for the revival of Indonesia and we pray for the greater outpouring (of Holy Spirit) in Jakarta and Indonesia.
