The Episcopal Church’s 78th General Convention met June 25 – July 3. Several resolutions for advocacy of Christians who face persecution and are living in civil war like conditions were passed during the convention.
It was also agreed in the convention that the church needs to step up support and solidarity for Christians in Pakistan, Liberia, Sudan and Syria. This is because, many of these live in constant fear of death and displacement and many other types of atrocities.
After recognizing the stress and trauma faced by the persecuted Christians the Resolution A047 calls for pastoral care of Christians and a prayer day in 2016 for the cause. Pastoral care resolution will be effective from 2016-2018.
Different resolutions have been drafted for different causes and different ways Christians face persecution.
