Divisional Commissioner Sardar Akram Javed and District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal visited the Catholic Church on Railway RoadFaisalabad expressing solidarity with the Christian community on Christmas. Maulana Muhammad Yousaf Anwar, Pir Ibrahim, Sahibzada Zahid Mehmood Qasmi, Maulana and Muhammad Riaz Kharal were also among those who were present on the occasion. They put across Christmas greetings to their Christian fellows while participated in the cake cutting ceremony.

 

Speaking to the guests, Divisional Commissioner Sardar Akram Javed said: various communities in civilised nations celebrated their festivals together. This helped strengthen the patriotic sentiments and promoted national harmony. He also assured the gathering of all doable effort for the benefit of the Christian minority in the Faisalabad division. The DCO said: minority citizens are playing an equal role in the development and prosperity of the Pakistan, their rights could not be neglected. Special arrangements had been made by the district administration in public parks to facilitate the Christians on Christmas.

 

Muslim clerics also spoke on the occasion saying: Islam guaranteed protection of minorities; referring to the founder of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah who always laid emphasis on these guidelines. Bishop Joseph Arshad on behalf of Christian community extended gratitude towards the Muslim guests for their concern and participation in Christmas celebrations.

 

On the other hand, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt chipped in the Christmas celebrations in expression of solidarity with the Christian community at Air Headquarters on Wednesday December 25. He said: in line with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam irrespective of cast, creed and religion, we are one nation. The Air Chief met with the Christian recruits of Pakistan Air Force and exchanged good wishes.
