Christmas spree: Nigeria’s First lady donates food items to the Christians

Nigeria’s First lady, Hajiya Aisha Buari, has donated food items among Christians, marking the festivity of the auspicious occasion of Christmas. On Thursday, December 15, the first lady donated items including bags of rice and cartons of liquid milk to the Christian community in Abuja. On this occasion, the first lady said while addressing the attendees, she said that the donated items are supposed to support the Christian families of the First Baptist Church in FCT, Abuja.

Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, the wife of the Vice-President represented first lady Aisha. Mrs Dolapo that he first lady’s gesture was done out of love. “I know there are men of God and people of God here and I see a lot of Christian mothers, the youth and children too, it is lovely to be here. The Bible says how good and pleasant it is when God makes us enjoy together

“I am not here in my own capacity; I am here representing the wife of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Everyone knows that she has a large heart and she has sent a lot of items to the Christian community, I am here to watch the handing over of the items to them,” she said.

In response to the gesture, Chairman of FCT, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Samson Jonah expressed his gratitude towards Hajiya Buhari for her kind gesture and her compassion on the occasion of Christmas. Later on, Reverend Johan assured Aisha Buhari that the food items would surely be distributed among all the Christians in the FCT.

“We want to assure you that by the grace of God, the distribution would go round all the Christian groups,” Reverend Jonah stated. He also stated that the Christian community was standing with President Muhammadu Buhari and his administration as his government continues to battle against corruption, insurgency and elements trying to destabilize the country.

Furthermore, Reverend Isreal Akanji, said that the kind gesture from the first lady showed that there is unity in the country. “I am really grateful, this is leadership; it is a sense of unity for the nation. Hajiya Aisha Buhari is a Muslim and she knows that this cerebration is for Christians and yet she has decided to brighten the hearts of Christians,” Reverend Israel Akanji said.
