A church building collapsed in the Oduma Town of south east Nigeria. Five people are reported to have been killed in the collapse. The building is said to have collapse Sunday night after heavy rain.
There was a service in process at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Cathedral and worshipers were praying when the incident occurred. Ebere Amarizu, the state police spokesperson, said “Yes, I can confirm to you that five persons died following the collapse of St. Anthony Catholic Church at about 8 p.m., but we are yet to know the cause,” he told reporters.
“It is not yet clear as to what brought about the collapse of the building, but we have commenced full investigations into the incidence,” Amarizu said.
