The bishops of the Democratic Republic of the Congo have condemned “acts of aggression and barbarism” that took place on October 12 against two priests in Lodja, a town of 70,000.

The nation’s bishops have opposed efforts by President Joseph Kabila to amend the constitution to allow himself to serve another term, and young supporters of Kabila perpetrated the attack.

The bishops stated that the violence was committed by a youth and declared three days of prayer for the nation.
