Country’ Christians covered Premier with prayers as he underwent open-heart surgery

Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, underwent an open-heart surgery on May 31, Tuesday in a hospital in London. Followed by successful surgery, doctors have decided to keep him under observation in the Intensive care unit (ICU) for two days.

Meanwhile, Christians back home continued to pray for the Prime Minister, as he was undergoing the surgery. The Prime Minister’ Prayer Team offered prayers for the effective surgical procedure, and for speedy recovery of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Pastors and Bishops who comprise the Prime Minister’ Prayer Team gathered outside Lahore Press Club and organized a prayer meeting for the PM.

Ahead of the surgery, Prime Minster’ Prayer Team urged all churches to remember PM Nawaz Sharif during Sunday services on May 29, the team further urged all the Pakistani Christians to keep him in prayers. In this regard, prayers were offered in churches across the country. Christian congregants in various cities prayed for his speedy recovery and good health.

PM Nawaz Sharif’ brother CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, spoke with the media outside the hospital in London. CM told the media that the Premier had undergone four heart bypasses, in order to deal with blockages. He told that PM has been shifted from the operation theater to intensive care.

“The doctors came into the room and congratulated us. It was a successful operation. There’s a recovery cycle. God willing, he’ll recover quickly,” he said. While further speaking, CM did not give a definite time for the Premier’ return to Pakistan, saying only “doctor’s advice will be followed.”
