Christians in Lahore venerate the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan Army, as they held a peace walk which was organized under the auspices of Rising Christians Union (RCU). This Peace Walk was held on September 4, as they chanted slogans in favor of Pakistan Army- paying homage to the valor of the army men.
Peace Walk, which was attended by RCU members along with Christian lawyers, Civil Society and various others from every walks of life; started at Lahore’s Press Club and ended at the Charing Cross. At this occasion, Chairman RCU- Shakeel Jahangir and General Secretary of RCU-Chaudhry Amon Emmanuel led the participants while they intoned slogans expressing admiration for the Pakistan Army.
This peace walk comes only just a few days after Pakistan Army had launched a successful operation against the terrorists who had attacked Peshawar’s Christian Colony. They voiced their gratitude and veneration towards the gallantry of Pakistan Army and security forces which were successful in warding off mass destruction. At the same time, they offered prayers for the Pakistan Armed Forces.
While addressing the participants of the Peace Walk, Shakeel Jahangir and Chaudhry Amon Emmanuel expressed deep love for Pakistan. They said that unity among Pakistani Christians is the need of the hour –“ it is when we unit, we become instrumental elements in national progression as well.”
Rising Christians Union is a local organization which strives for betterment of Christian community by laying emphasis on need of education, calling for equal rights for Christians as guaranteed by the Constitution of Pakistan. RCU further raises voice against the injustices in the society urging for dispensation of justice to all and one.
