A delegation of Christian leaders of Faisalabad headed by former MPA Kamal Chughtai met with DCO Faisalabad Kanwar Ejaz Khaliq on Monday and put forward their demands for Easter Sunday.
The delegation consisting of Joel Amer Sahotra Former MPA, Father Shahzad Younas, Ps. Emrik Joseph, Ps. Bashir Khursheed, and others demanded that Christians be provided full security on all festivals especially the coming Easter Day. DCO agreed to arranging a two day training for the policemen assigned the task of providing security to churches.
The meeting was also attended by leaders from Police, WASA (Water and Sanitation Agency), FWMC (Faisalabad Waste Management Company), Traffic Police, FS Park and others also attended the meeting.
Due to lack of education and skill, large number of Pakistani Christians work as janitors and sweepers so the delegation also demanded that FWMC employees be given their salaries before Easter.
Christian leaders also demanded that as on Eid, recreational sites fairs be cut to half on Christian festivities as well so that the general public may enjoy the day by visiting these sites.
In addition to that, the delegation also demanded that a singing competition and a cricket tournament be organised for Christian youth to polish their skills and highlight the hidden talent among the community.
DCO and the respective department heads assured the delegation that the demands would be met and Christians be provided with a chance to celebrate Easter freely.
