The National Peace Committee has honored Dr. Akash Mathew Bhimani, a Christian doctor for his farfetched services towards the society. During an inter-religious harmony conference held under the banner of the National Peace Committee, the ophthalmology prodigy was bestowed with a gold medal.
Dr. Akash Mathew has recently taken charge as the Medical Director of the United Christian Hospital in Lahore. He has been credited with significant, community service owing to execution of free of cost eye camps in various cities and remote areas of the country. Dr. Akash Mathew feels humbled to be recognized for doing the community service, and helping people any way he can.
He was bestowed with this prestigious award in recognition to his commitment, as he goes above and beyond the call of duty to support different communities; making an outstanding contribution in welfare and healthcare. “I have conducted ophthalmology surgery cases during the fee eye camp at Hawa Memorial Hospital in Wazirabad,” he explains. Recently, he administered reparation to patients at the Gulberg Lines Hospital in Lahore. Previously, he has been instrumental part of free of cost services to patients at the Kunri Hospital, in Sindh. Moreover, he has reached out to abject people in Pasni and Abbotabad as well.
He comes across as a gentleman, who is well-liked, compassionate, eager to serve communities, and always looking for new ways to improve the patient experience. While remarking about his latter responsibilities he remarked, that it’s a daunting task, as both hospital’ and physicians’ practices are suffering as reimbursement continues to fall, costs continue to climb. In the face of the current environment, the institute is struggling financially, yet, he is of resolute mind saying, “I want to work to glorify the Lord through UCH rehabilitation and reviving,” he says.
