Dr Ruth Pfau,” a symbol of selflessness and devotion to leprosy patients”, passed away at 87 years old in Karachi late Wednesday night while she was experiencing surgery.
Dr Ruth had been experiencing treatment at the Marie Adelaide Leprosy Center for two weeks and passed away amid surgery at 12:30am on Wednesday night, said the inside.
In 1979, she was granted the Hilal-i-Imtiaz, the second most noteworthy non military personnel honor of the nation. In 1989, Dr Ruth was displayed the Hilal-i-Pakistan.
Her last ceremonies will be performed on August 19 at St. Patrick’s Church in Karachi’s Saddar area.
