Lahore’ Christian community horded in large number at Charing Cross the Mall. Christians offered prayers for departed soul and his family. They prayed for the Edhi family so that they may be able to uphold the legacy of Abdul Sattar Edhi. The champion humanitarian breathed his last on July 8, Friday night. His departure left the entire nation mourning, while the Premier announced a day’ national mourning.
Christians in Islamabad held a candle light vigil for the legend. They had gathered in large numbers under the banner of Christian citizen forum, when they paid tribute to the national hero. Prayers were also offered for the departed soul and his bereaved family in various churches during Sunday services.
At this occasion, Pastor Samuel Khokhar expressed deep sorrow over the loss of legendary humanitarian. “There are few who match the stature of Abdul Sattar Edhi, people like them are born in years.” He emphasized that Mother Teresa a Christian and Abdul Sattar Edhi hailing from Islam were unbeaten champions of humanity. “I salute his tireless and lifelong service to humanity.”
He said that Abdul Sattar Edhi was a father to the fatherless, hope for the hopeless, friend of widows, orphans, helpless and others. He was a father of millions of orphans who are now left orphaned owing to his demise. “Nobody in the country has ever had a protocol as he received- he was a millionaire beggar,” he said.
Pastor Samuel said that the Christians are to observe a three day mourning and will continue to pray for the grieving family of Abdul Sattar Edhi. He said that we pray that the Lord grants peace to their hearts and comforts their troubles souls.
