Extremists hunting after a Christian lawyer in order to kill her

Pakistani Christian lawyer who has been actively raising voice against forced conversions of minorities’ girls, misuse of blasphemy laws and other issues of the religious minorities in Pakistan. For this reason Advocate Jacqueline Sultan has been in hiding as she now faces death threats from the extremists.

Pakistani Christians persecuted

Reports emerged that the driver of Christian lawyer Advocate Jacqueline Sultan was severely beaten by the extremists who were pressurizing him to disclose the location of the Christian lawyer. In line with details, 24-year-old, Tabish Shamaun was intercepted by the extremists as he was travelling from Hyderabad to Karachi. Two unknown men who were riding a motorbike stopped him and started threatening him in order to know the whereabouts of Advocate Jacqueline.

When the young man was unable to provide them with their desired information, they started beating him. The assailants also damaged his car, warning him that they will find the Christian lawyer at any cost. Pakistani Christian lawyer Advocate Jacqueline Sultan has been in hiding as she received death threats from the extremists.

Advocate Jacqueline received a letter from the extremists, in which she was warned not to pursue struggle for the rights of minorities or else she would be killed. She has also been providing legal aid to victims of religion based discrimination and persecution.

Jacqueline Sultan,is a high court advocate as well as member of the Karachi Bar Council. After she received the threatening letter, she informed the incident to Naeem Qureshi President of Karachi Bar Association. Moreover, the incident was also reported to the South SSP, and the Rangers DG , South SSP and the Risala Police Station. Consequently, Karachi Bar Association urged the authorities to take serious action regarding the matter and provide the Christian lawyer with foolproof security.

Karachi Bar Association also urged the authorities for an inquiry into the matter so as to determine the perpetrators of the act. The lawyers’ body demanded for immediate action and arrest of the people who had threatened the Christian lawyer. However, Advocate Jacqueline was not provided with satisfactory security so as to thwart any possible attack from the extremists. For this reason, the Christian lawyer had to go into hiding in order to save her life.
