Faisalabad: Christians suffer a reprisal attack following a road accident


Christians in Faisalabad’s Khushal Town faced the brunt of violence following a road accident between motorbike of a Christian and a Muslim man. Shortly after the incident, furious men launched an attack against the Christians in the neighborhood as a payback.

Despite vehemence, police shows reluctance to lodge an FIR of the incident. Owing to the averseness shown by the police, a local Christian namely Pervaiz Masih has moved a requisition seeking registration of an FIR against the assailants. Pervaiz Masih has beseeched the S.H.O Saddar Police Station to register his complaint against the perpetrators. Applicant Pervaiz Masih has urged the S.H.O Saddar Police Station to lodge an FIR against the named perpetrators and take action against them.

The incident took place on August 19, Friday when a Christian resident of Khushal Town Adnan Masih had an accident with brother-in-law of Umar Hayat. Passersby settled the matter at the scene however after half an hour the influential men along with accomplices attacked Adnan Masih’s house.

Pervaiz Masih in his application to the S.H.O. had claimed that on August 19 around 5 ‘o clock in the evening, five men namely Umar Hayat, Muzamil, Khizar, Pervaiz along with ten others initiated an onslaught at the houses of Christians. These men armed with iron and wooden rods, broke into the house of Christians in street number 4 and 3. They forced Christians out of their houses and bashed them.

Seeing the violence brewing; Christian residents of Khushal Town started fleeing while three of them were unable to break away and were beaten severely by the assailants. The wounded men have been identified as Mizrob Nadir Shan son of Emmanuel Masih, Shamshir Masih son of Emmanuel Masih, Emmanuel Masih son of Nazir Masih.

Eye-witnesses and others who sustained minor injuries include Saleem Gul son of Allah Ditta, Shahzad Murad son of Murad Masih, Adnan son of Sufyan, Farhan son of Anwar Masih, Irfan Masih son of Khushi Masih, Razia Bibi wife of Pervaiz Masih, Rukhsana Bibi wife of Ashraf, Parveen wife of Irfan, Laveezan Bibi wife of Emmanuel and Musarat Bibi wife of Razaq Masih.
