A delegation of Christians has been assured of all out support from the police. During a meeting held between the delegation of local Christians and DCO Salman Ghani, CPO Afzal Kausar at Police Lines Complex in Faisalabad. At this occasion both the officials assured the Christians’ delegation that security measures will be kept up to the mark in order to ward off unpleasant incidents.
During this meeting, the Christians’ delegation which included Pastor Emric Joseph, Pastor Tahir Naushad, Father Bashir, Pastor Zahoor, Pastor Ishaq Khan Pasha, Pastor Shakeel, Pastor Ashfaq Masih, Pastor Shamaun, Pastor Peter Riaz, Pastor Nazir John Gill, Pastor Professor Tahir Javed, Pastor Safeer Qadir, Pastor Waqar Manzoor, Pastor Aftab Nazir and Pastor Khursheed Bashir. Thsi delagtion was led by ex-member of Punjab Assembly Advocate Kamal Chughtai.
At this occasion, DCO Salman Ghani and CPO Afzal Kausar assured that security will be stepped up at all the churches in Faisalabad. While the delegation also informed the police officials that local Christians will also be deployed at the churches as volunteer security personnel. While at the start of the meeting, Advocate Kamal Chughtai expressed concerns of the Christian community and briefed the DCO and CPO about the situation of the security at the churches.
CPO told the delegation that Faisalabad police has chalked out a security plan for the occasion. According to this plan, security personnel will be deployed at the churches and public places where Christians are likely to gather on Christmas day.
DCO further told the guests that special arrangements will be made for maintaining cleanliness in the public areas, for the occasion. He also said that arrangements have been made to ensure proper light at public areas and other facilities. Towards the end of the meeting, DCO said that Christmas is an occasion celebrating peace and love.
CPO Afzal Kausar said that all communities regardless of their religion must celebrate such festivals, which will strengthen the bonds between the communities. At the same time, CPO directed all the Superintendents Police in respective areas in the city to pay heed to the problems faced by the local Christian community and take effective measure in order to address their issues.
