Faisalabad: Prayer vigil held in remembrance of Abdul Sattar Edhi- a man of enduring virtue

Abdul Sattar Edhi always exercised self-sacrifice in order to help others at any cost, says Bishop Joseph Arshad. In order to pay tribute to the legendary philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi, Christians organized a prayer vigil in his memory. This prayer vigil was attended by Christians, clergymen and nuns held at the Catholic Church, Railway Road, Faisalabad.

This prayer vigil was attended by Bishop Joseph Arshad- Bishop of Faisalabad, who expressed admiration towards the champion humanitarian. While addressing the audience, Bishop Joseph Arshad said, “The extraordinary services of Abdul Sattar Edhi will never be forgotten.” He voiced deep sorrow over his demise saying, “Abdul Sattar Edhi’ demise is a great loss to the country, which had left the nation aggrieved.”

While further continuing, Bishop Joseph Arshad said that humanism is kept alive by the fragrance of self-sacrifice. “Abdul Sattar Edhi always sacrificed his personal interests for the sake of betterment of others.” This vigil was also attended by Father Nisar Barkat, and others. Towards the end of the vigil, the congregants lit candles in the memory of the celebrated humanitarian.

88-year-old, Abdul Sattar Edhi breathed his last on Friday July 8, night. He was in a critical condition and was sustained by life support system. His death was marked by a day of national mourning, while the country was left aggrieved.
