Federal Minister for National Harmony, Paul Bhatti expresses satisfaction over the Supreme Court decision to dismiss petition against Rimsha Masih’s acquittal.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan quashed a petition to re-open the blasphemy case against Rimsha Masih. Rimsha Masih, a 14-year old Christian girl was allegedly accused of committing blasphemy by burning sacred text. Subsequent to the police investigations and court proceedings the blasphemy charges against her were dropped, therefore terminating the case.
The Fedral Minister told that he was pleased with the decision of the Supreme Court to declare Rimsha Masih innocent. According to theVatican radio, Mr. Bhatti said that these were “days of stress and tension,” but “justice had prevailed.”
