Five injured in an explosion at Peshawar’s Ring Road


A blast took place on Peshawar’s Ring Road area, today Friday, September 29. Details emerged that at least five people have sustained injuries as a result of this explosion. Authorities confirmed that the injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital.

In keeping with details, the explosion occurred near MMC hospital in Shunwari Town located on Ring Road. The explosion occurred at around 2:50 pm. Authorities could not confirm the nature of the blast initially. However, the witnesses claimed that saw the assailant.

A spokesperson of Rescue 1122 detailed: “Two of the injured claimed they saw someone throw a hand grenade at them.” Police and rescue teams rushed towards the site and shifted the injured to the hospital.

Speaking in this regard, Senior Superintendent Police Operations, Sajjad Khan said that the explosion unfolded near MMC hospital, and the injured include the owner of the hospital besides his son. Previously, a major terror bid was foiled by the security forces. “We have recovered more than 34 kg’s of explosives, 2 bombs each weighing 15 kg’s, magnet bombs even pipe bombs & hundreds of detonators.” Sajjad Khan tweeted.

The blast occurred amid tight security arrangements made especially for Muharram processions and Majalis. As security measure for the religious gatherings, authorities have banned pillion riding and cellular services have also been suspended in different cities across the country.
