ISLAMABAD: Government of Pakistan announces the Independence Day celebrations plan.
The government announced programme for “Azadi celebrations” of month-long activities have been chalked out to celebrate the 68th Independence Day with enthusiasm. Khwaja Saad Rafique Federal Minister for Railways and Convener of Special Cabinet committee formed by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to arrange “Azadi Celebrations” revealed that on the night between 13th and 14th August military march past and parade has been organized in the front of Parliament House where all the political parties would be invited.
14th of August would dawn with the 21 guns salute and special prayers for the country. Later on a national flag hoisting ceremony would be held either at Convention Centre or at the Presidency. Along side these countrywide sports activities, National Mushaira and a National Conference on ‘Quaid’s Concept of Pakistan’ would be held.
The government has also announced Azadi (Independence) Train on this occasion to highlight the history and culture of the country. The minister said the train will start its journey from Peshawar on the 11th of August and would reach Karachi on September 11 after covering about 4,000 km. The train will consist of six floats representing culture of all the four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. Governors and foreign diplomats would visit the train as well.
