On 4th January, 2016, thirty homes of Christian families were burnt to ground in Leyva Velasquez, Mexico.

According to International Christian Concern, in December 2015, Christians from the Mexican village Leyva Velasquez were gathered by the locals with the help from local officials and threatened to be killed or renounce their faith. When most of them refused, the officials imprisoned several of the Christians.

Later, on 4th of January, the town locals gathered around Christian houses with machetes, expelled the Christians from their homes and set fire to their houses. The affected Christians are now without homes, some taking refuge in neighboring villages without any means of support or means of income.

Mexico has lately been home to rising hatred against Christians and many have been persecuted in the last years.
