Humayun Masih’s Bail Petition Withdrawn Without Court Proceedings

Humayun Faisal was arrested in an alleged blasphemy case in the Dhupp sari are in Lahore on 24th may 2015.

He was charged under the 295B act at a police station in Gulshan-e-Ravi. Humayun had been blamed for desecration of the Holy Quran and violent protest had taken place in the surrounding areas following his arrest.

LEAD lawyer filed a petition for his bail in the Session court. The hearing was undertaken under Mr. Mubashir Nadeem Khan additional and session judge. Final arguments regarding the bail petition were to be undertaken on June 27th.

Sardar Mushtaq Gill, Human Rights Defender and Advocate High Court along with team of LEAD Mr. Aric John, Advocate High Court, Mr. Rana Adnan, Advocate High Court and court clerk Mr. Qaiser Younas attended the high court hearing yesterday. Upon reaching there, it was brought to their notice that the power of attorney of the case had been superseded by an unknown lawyer who did not want Humayun Faisal to be bailed.

The filed petition for bail was withdrawn without any arguments or proceedings. The court did not give any decision on the case.
