Rashid Akhtar maintained that he and his family relocated to another city but later they sent their son to Tando Allahyar. Rashid Akhtar makes both ends meet by driving a rickshaw while his wife is a domestic helper by profession.

It was reported that on September 24, when Rashid Akhtar along with Advocate Sooba Bhatti were on their way to Hari Camp Kotri; two masked men on motorbikes intercepted them. Rashid claims that the men hailed from the same extremist group which had beaten his son. He said that the men stopped them, but when Advocate Sooba Bhatti put his helmet off, they fled.

Rashid claims that the masked men perceived Advocate Sooba Bhatti to be Salman Rashid and it was another attempt to attack his son. The incident was later reported at a police station in Jamshoro, but Rashid fears that the extremists will try to attack him or his family.

Fearful of another attack, Rashid is urging the authorities to take note of the incident and provide the affected family with adequate security. He said that he and his family are living in fear and that the government must take action in this regard.
