IG Punjab Police takes notice of the police rampage in Faisalabad’ Christian Town

Inspector General Punjab Police Mushtaq Sukhera has taken notice of the heinous incident in Christian Town Faisalabad. On May 19, police had run riot, and arrested Christians from outside a church. What is more, police hooked few Christians including ex-Member of Punjab Assembly Kamal Chughtai and others including women and brought fabricated terrorism charges against them.

IG Punjab Police takes notice of anti Christians attack

On June 22, a delegation of Christian leaders including ex-MPA Kamal Chughtai, MPA Shakeel Ivon , ex-MPA Tahir Naveed Chaudry, Reverend Father Pascal, Ms Tahira Anjum, Reverend Bashir Khurshid, Advocate Sharafat Gill, Dawood Navees, Advocate Faisal Ilyas and others met with IG Punjab Police at his office.

They briefed IG Punjab Police about the incident and police rampage against Christians. After being briefed about the incident, IG Punjab Police vowed to take action against the perpetrators and conduct unbiased investigations into the incident.

On May 19, Police contingents from the Gulberg Police Station conducted a raid against the Christians in collaboration with other police stations. Police hooked Christians from outside the Pakistan Christian Life Ministries Church in Christian Town, a predominantly Christian neighborhood in Faisalabad.

The commotion left Christians residing of the Christian Town fleeing as they feared further police raids in the area. Subsequently, police registered a false case of terrorism against ex-MPA Kamran Chughtai, and subjected him and other Christians to inhumane torture.
