Imprisoned For Evangelism Homayoun Shekohi Released From Iranian Prison

Homayoun Shekohi Iranian Christian, was jailed in Shiraz when a raid was conducted at his house church Shekohi has been released after 40 months in jail.

He was arrested in 2012 and was released on conditional bail in 2014 which was cancelled in 2015 January so that he can serve the remaining part of his sentence.

Mr Shokouhi’s wife, Fariba Nazemian, was also held in prison and released on 18 October 2012 with a bail payment of around US$200,000. Their 17-year old son was arrested and released on bail.

The sentence was due to be finished on October 2015. Homayouns family had lately not been able to visit him as he had been kept in a notorious prison of Iran called the Adelabad prison.

Accused of conducting evangelistic activity in Iran, Homayoun was transferred back to the general prison on June 28th, shortly befor being released.
A UN report states that as of January 2014, some 50 Christians were being held in detention in Iran out of 307 prisoners from various religious minorities.
