Archbishop of Bangalore Dr Bernard Moras and seven other Bishops of different Dioceses of the Karnataka State met Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala at Raj Bhavan last week with a request to urge the Centre to wield pressure for ending the persecution of thousands of Christians and other minorities in Iraq, Syria and other African countries by the Islamic extremists.

The delegation was led by the Archbishop of Bangalore and submitted a memorandum to the State Governor to be forwarded to the President of India Pranab Kumar Mukkherjee, which expressed distress and grief at the dilemma of the Christians and other minorities in Iraq and Syria and said as per unofficial estimates about one lac and seventy thousand people have already been killed.

The memorandum said, “We strongly feel that the problem in Iraq is caused by a misunderstanding of Islam, those who propagate the holocaust are actually unaware of the true Islam and Quran’s teachings.”
