The British Royal Air Force is engaged in a surveillance mission in Iraq in which British Tornado aircraft are being used to plot Islamic State (IS) positions on the ground. The Royal Air Force has already been involved in making aid drops to people fleeing IS. The fighter jets are based in Cyprus at RAF Akrotiri, alongside the C-130 Hercules cargo planes used to carry out aid drops.
