Iraq: Security forces seize ISIS’ doll-bombs which were to kill thousands of children

ISIS’ deadly plan to target children from Shia community foiled by Iraqi security forces.

In keeping with details, the Iraqi security forces have hooked more than a dozen dolls which were part of an ISIS bomb plot against Shia pilgrims. Reportedly, the terror group ISIS had planed to scatter the doll-bombs on the road between Baghdad and Karbala; the same route which will be used by millions of Shia Muslims during their annual pilgrimage for Arbaeen next month.

In this regard, the Kuwait News Agency, (KUNA) reported that the Iraqi security forces discovered these trapped bombs in al-Husseiniya, which is a largely Shia suburb in north eastern part of Baghdad, the Iraqi Capital.

After taking these trapped bombs in custody the Iraqi security forces defused and annihilate 18 IEDs which, the terror group had hid inside the hollow bodies of doll toys, before dressing them in doll clothes.

Arabeen is a religious pilgrimage of Shia Muslims which marks the end of the 40-day period of mourning after the anniversary of Imam Hussein’s death; who was the grandson of Prophet Muhammad. Every year millions of Shia Muslims flock together to mark this event, as millions set on foot on their journey to Karbala.

Moreover, it is believed to be among one of the largest religious gathering in the world. Only last year, Karbala saw a turn out of about 17.5 million Shia Muslims who were commemorating Arbaeen.
