Chaldean Church is calling upon Muslims to fast and pray together on June 17, Friday for peace in the country. As the Islamic fasting month, Ramadan has started, the Chaldean Church is urging Iraqi Christians to join in prayers and fasting with the Muslims, amid continued conflicts, and devastation by terror groups especially Islamic State group.
In a statement, Chaldean Church has asked all Chaldean Christians to fast on June 17, Friday with the Muslims, in order to pray with one accord for peace and harmony in Iraq. “In solidarity with the fasting Muslims during this month of Ramadan, we will fast and pray together for peace and stability in our country and the region,” the official statement said.
Chaldean Church stated that prior to devastation caused by war, conflicts, insurgencies, humanitarian crisis and tragedies; the church was also involved in benevolent both national and spiritual activities in the country. It was briefed, that church has been involved in charitable activities for all regardless of religion.
Chaldean church had been distributing food baskets among refugees in numerous refugee camps; supplied medicines to make-shifts clinics at the refugee camps and organizing “Iftaar” dinner for fasting Muslims during Ramadan. Church stated that it has been decided to fast and pray on June 17, with same zeal and fervor as before, along with the Muslims, and pray as usual “for peace in Iraq, Syria and throughout the region.”
