The looming threat of Islamic State has now crossed the borders of Syria to neighbouring Lebanon, that has made Christians in Lebanon arm themselves to defend their land and families from the extremists.
More than 20 people have been killed so far in northern Lebanon in clashes between the army and the ISIS supporting militants in the past four days. Lebanese security officials are saying that 12 soldiers and 10 civilians were killed while 92 soldiers and 63 civilians have been wounded since Friday.
Thousands of civilians including Christians had to flee their homes in northern Lebanon’s Tripoli area over the weekend, under the threat of Islamic State militants attack. Moreover, Lebanese army troops are stationed near the Lebanese-Syrian border in al-Masnaa.
