A Christian neighborhood of the Capital city gets incredibly benefited by the installation of separate electric meters for each house. Prior to this, there was a joint electric meter of the entire neighborhood. This was made possible by the kind assistance of the prominent local Christian leader Julius Salik, who is commonly known as J. Salik. The meter installation is scheduled today, May 6.
The predominantly, Christian neighborhood, So Quarter Colony (100 Quarters Colony) in Islamabad’ F-6 Sector is expected to get electric meters installed at each house. In this respect, a collective thanksgiving prayer service was organized which was attended by J. Salik. This installation is a result of twenty years of struggle to get separate electric meters for each house, while the entire neighborhood was running on a single electric meter which caused great deal of nuisance to the residents.
While addressing the residents on this occasion J. Salik said: “ By God’s grace and our tireless efforts the day has come after twenty years that separate electric meters will be installed at each and every house of the neighborhood.” He went on to say that this is pleasant foretoken for the 500 houses in this locality.
“Twenty years ago, we jostled in order to get ownership rights for the residents of this locality; nonetheless, they were deprived of electricity supply which led them to steal electricity by illegal means. Almost every day, police hooked one or another resident of this neighborhood over charges of stealing electricity.”
“Seeing this scenario, I raised the issue with the authorities and so a single meter was installed at this neighborhood. Nonetheless, this meter failed to meet the increasing needs of the locality,” he said. The poor residents had to pay huge amount as electricity bills, in the face of this, today by the grace of God, the installation of separate electric meters has been initiated and I hope that the problems of the residents are reduced to some extent”
